Monkey Bread
Alta Joy, René and Little Richard love this snack even more than cinnamon rolls.

Heat together (do not boil):
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1 stick butter
1/3 cup sugar
2 pkg. yeast
1 t. salt
2 eggs
Bread flour, about 4 1/2 cups

1 stick melted butter

1 cup sugar
2 T. cinnamon

Melt milk, water and butter together until very warm. Combine 1 cup of flour, plus other dry ingredients in large mixer bowl. Add warm milk mixture to the bowl; beat until smooth. Add the eggs and blend. Add enough of the remaining flour to make a stiff batter. Cover and let rise. (May rise in the refrigerator overnight). Turn onto a floured board. Cut into small pieces (note: may freeze dough pieces at this point). Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Dip dough pieces into melted butter, then cinnamon sugar. Drop into a buttered baking pan (bundt cake pan, two pie plates, etc. Dough should not be too thick or it will not get done in the middle ). Let rise another 45 minutes. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes.

Optional glaze:
Whisk together 1 cup sifted powdered sugar and 2-3 T. milk. If desired, beat in 1/2 stick melted butter, 4 T. softened cream cheese, or 1 T. maple flavoring and 1 T. coffee. Drizzle glaze over rolls.

Optional ingredients: Sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips, raisins or nuts into dish along with dough pieces.
