Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies

3/4 cup butter-flavor Crisco
1 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 T. milk or half-and-half
1 T. vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup dry oatmeal, blended into coarse flour (in blender)
1-2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup nuts (optional)

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine ingredients in a large bowl. Beat each ingredient as it is added, at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Slowly beat in chocolate chips (and nuts, if desired). Drop rounded teaspoonfuls 3” apart on a lightly greased (sprayed with Pam) cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove carefully from baking sheet and cool on wire rack. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

These cookies stay softer than the ones made with butter.
The texture is still good the next day.
