Aunt Emily’s Cornbread

Slightly sweet with a light, buttery taste. Perfect with chili or soup!

1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
4 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 cup milk
1/2 stick butter, melted (use part to grease pan; mix the rest into the batter)

Mix all ingredients until smooth. Pour into preheated, buttered 10” skillet or 9” square pan.

Bake at 475 degrees about 15 minutes, until browned.

8-9 pieces
