Slushy Punch

1 cup boiling water
1 3-oz. box gelatin, any flavor

1-1/3 cup sugar
1-1/3 cup water

Bring 1 cup water to boil in a 2-cup Pyrex measuring cup in the microwave. Stir in gelatin until dissolved. In a 2-quart pitcher, dissolve sugar in 1-1/3 cups water. Stir in the gelatin mixture.

2 cups water
2/3 c. lemon juice
4 cups pineapple juice

Add to pitcher and stir until well mixed.

Individual servings: Freeze in a large plastic box. Draw a fork across the surface to make crystals. Spoon into a glass. Pour ginger ale, Sprite, or other fizzy drink over. Garnish with fruit.

Another way to serve: Freeze in Ice cube trays. Pour the ginger ale over the frozen punch cubes in a glass. Stir to break up the cubes.

For a crowd: Freeze in cardboard milk cartons until solid. When ready to serve, set out milk cartons an hour in advance to soften. Break up the frozen punch into a punch bowl or pitchers. Add 1 (1-liter) bottle ginger ale to the broken up pieces of frozen punch. Stir until slushy. Add another liter of ginger ale if desired.
